Cooking Instructions
Prepare the Ingredients
Wash and cut broccoli into florets. Remove the casing from the Italian sausage.
Cook the Sausage
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook until browned and cooked through, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks. Remove sausage and set aside.
Sauté Broccoli
In the same skillet, add minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant, then add the broccoli florets. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until broccoli is tender but still crisp.
Make the Sauce
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for about 1 minute. Gradually whisk in chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Stir in heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Cook until the sauce thickens.
Combine and Serve
Add the cooked sausage back into the skillet with the broccoli, then pour the sauce over the mixture. Stir to combine and heat through. Serve warm.
