Cocktail Base & Spirits

Garnish & Finish

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for at least 10 minutes or fill with ice and water to chill while you prepare the drink.

  2. 2

    Measure ingredients

Using a jigger, measure gin, elderflower liqueur, dry vermouth, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, rose water, and optional grenadine into a mixing glass or cocktail shaker.

Mixing & Dilution

  1. 3

Add a generous handful of ice to the mixing glass or shaker (about 1 cup). If using a shaker, fit the lid securely.

  2. 4

Stir (preferred for spirit-forward clarity) for 20–30 seconds with a bar spoon to properly chill and dilute the cocktail. If you prefer a slightly frothier, more aerated texture, shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds instead.

Finishing & Serving

  1. 5

Remove the coupe or martini glass from the freezer or discard the ice/water if you used that method.

  2. 6

If you used a mixing glass, strain the cocktail through a fine strainer or Hawthorne into the chilled glass to remove any small ice shards and ensure a clear presentation.

  3. 7

Garnish: Express the oils of the lemon twist over the drink by holding the twist skin-side down and giving it a quick squeeze, then run the twist around the rim and drop it into the drink. Lightly place the dried edible rose petal on the surface of the cocktail for aroma and visual appeal.

  4. 8

Serve immediately. Optional: for a pinker hue, stir 0.25 oz grenadine into the drink before straining.
