Cocktail

Method

Prepare Rim

1

Combine the coarse sea salt and ground chile powder on a small plate and spread in an even ring large enough to coat the glass rim.

2

Run the lime wedge around the outer edge of a rocks or coupe glass to moisten the rim (do not over-wet).

3

Dip the moistened rim gently into the chile-salt mixture, twist to coat evenly, then set the glass aside.

Build & Shake

4

Add mezcal, fresh blood orange juice, fresh lime juice, and agave syrup into a cocktail shaker.

5

Fill the shaker with ice (about 6 oz or until 3/4 full).

6

Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted.

7

If you prefer a smoother texture, double-strain the cocktail through a fine mesh strainer into a chilled mixing glass or directly into the serving glass to remove pulp and small ice shards.

Serve & Garnish

8

Fill the rimmed serving glass with fresh ice (about 4 oz).

9

Strain the shaken cocktail into the prepared glass over the fresh ice.

10

Garnish with a blood orange wheel or wedge on the rim. Optionally, express the oil from a thin strip of blood orange peel over the drink before dropping it in for added aroma.

11

Serve immediately and provide a small spoon or straw for stirring if desired.
