Preparation Instructions

1

Prepare the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and salt. Gradually add water while kneading the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic. If desired, add the oil for extra softness. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.

2

Divide and Roll

After resting, divide the dough into small equal portions (approximately the size of a golf ball). Dust a clean surface with some flour and roll each portion into a flat circle using a rolling pin, keeping the thickness even.

3

Cook the Roti

Heat a tava or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the rolled roti on the skillet. Cook for about 30 seconds or until bubbles start to form on the surface. Flip the roti and cook for another 30 seconds. If desired, you can press down gently with a spatula to help it puff up. Flip again and cook for an additional 10-15 seconds until golden brown.

4

Serve

Remove the roti from the skillet and keep it warm in a clean kitchen towel. Repeat the process for the remaining dough. Serve warm with your favorite curry or side dish.
