Method

For the Shrimp

  1. 1

    Prepare the Shrimp

In a bowl, combine the shrimp with olive oil, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the shrimp evenly.

  2. 2

    Cook the Shrimp

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are opaque and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

For the Grits

  1. 3

    Cook the Grits

In a pot, bring the water to a boil. Once boiling, slowly whisk in the grits. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally until the grits are soft.

  2. 4

    Add Cream and Cheese

Once the grits are cooked, stir in the heavy cream, butter, cheddar cheese, and salt. Mix well until creamy and cheese is melted.

For the Spicy Sauce

  1. 5

    Prepare the Sauce

In the same skillet used for the shrimp, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 6

    Finish the Sauce

Stir in hot sauce, lemon juice, and paprika. Cook for another minute, then return the shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Serve

Spoon a generous amount of creamy grits onto each plate, top with blackened shrimp, and drizzle the spicy sauce over the top. Enjoy!
