Method
Shrimp Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Shrimp
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 2
Coat the Shrimp
Dredge the peeled and deveined shrimp in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
- 3
Create the Batter
In another bowl, mix the water into the remaining flour mixture until smooth and well combined.
Frying
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Shrimp
Dip each coated shrimp into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding.
- 6
Cook Until Golden
Fry the shrimp for 3-4 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Honey Fire Sauce Preparation
- 7
Make the Sauce
In a small saucepan, combine the honey, sriracha sauce, soy sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, and lime juice.
- 8
Heat the Sauce
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sauce is heated through and slightly thickened, about 5 minutes.
- 9
Toss the Shrimp
In a large mixing bowl, add the fried shrimp and pour the Honey Fire Sauce over them. Toss to coat evenly.
Serving
- 10
Serve
Serve the Honey Fire Shrimp immediately, garnished with lime wedges if desired.
