Method
Preparing Breadsticks
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, salt, garlic powder, dried oregano, and crushed red pepper flakes. Mix well.
Combine Ingredients
Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough begins to form.
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shape the Breadsticks
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle. Cut the dough into strips to form breadsticks.
Add Cheese
Sprinkle the rolled-out breadsticks with Parmesan cheese, pressing lightly to adhere.
Bake
Place the breadsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve
Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving with a Bloody Mary.
