Method

Prepare Glass & Garnish

1

Salt the rim

Pour the coarse salt onto a small plate. Moisten the rim of your glass by running the lime wedge around it. Dip the moistened rim into the salt, twisting to coat evenly. Set the glass aside to dry for a minute.

2

If using lime zest, grate a small amount now and set aside to finish the drink.

Mix Cocktail

3

Add 2 oz blanco tequila to the cocktail shaker using a jigger.

4

Add 1 oz fresh lime juice (about 1 medium lime) to the shaker.

5

Add 1 oz orange liqueur (Cointreau or triple sec) to the shaker.

6

If you prefer a slightly sweeter margarita, add 0.25 oz simple syrup to taste. For a traditional tart Margarita, omit the syrup.

7

Fill the shaker with 6 ice cubes. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is very cold and slightly frosted.

8

If you prefer a clearer drink, double-strain: open the shaker and pour through a fine strainer into the prepared glass over fresh ice (for a rocks serve) or without ice for a straight-up coupe.

Finish & Serve

9

Garnish the cocktail with the lime wheel or wedge on the rim or floated on top.

10

Optional: express the reserved lime zest over the surface by holding it skin-side down and giving it a quick twist to release fragrant oils, then drop it into the drink or rub the rim with it for extra aroma.

11

Serve immediately. Sip and celebrate.
