Place the bottle of Malvazija, Kozlović in the refrigerator for at least 1.5–2 hours before serving to reach an ideal serving temperature of about 8–10°C (46–50°F). If short on time, submerge the bottle in an ice bucket filled with equal parts ice and water for 15–20 minutes until it feels cool to the touch.

Chill the bottle

Use clean white wine glasses. If glasses are dusty, rinse briefly with cold water and allow to air-dry or dry with a lint-free cloth. Pre-chilling glasses in the fridge for 10–15 minutes is optional but helpful in warm conditions.

Prepare glassware

Remove the foil capsule and wipe the top of the bottle with a clean cloth. Use a corkscrew to carefully remove the cork, keeping the bottle upright to avoid spills.

Open the bottle

Malvazija is generally not tannic and rarely needs decanting. If there is a slight sediment (rare in filtered modern bottlings), gently pour the wine into a decanter, stopping when you see the sediment reach the neck. Otherwise, skip decanting and proceed to pouring.

Decanting (optional)

Pour about 120–150 ml (4–5 fl oz) into each glass — enough to allow swirling and to concentrate aromatics while keeping the wine cooler. Avoid filling more than one-third of the glass.

Pouring

Hold the glass at the stem and tilt it against a white background. Note the wine's pale straw to light gold color and clarity, which indicates its clean, dry style and medium body.

Observe

Swirl the wine gently to release aromatics. Bring the glass to your nose and take a few short sniffs. Expect delicate floral, orchard fruit (pear, apple), citrus peel, and subtle herbal or saline notes consistent with Malvazija's balanced acidity and smooth, uncomplex profile.

Smell

Take a small sip, let it spread across the palate, then swallow or spit. Notice medium body, dry finish, lively but well-integrated acidity, and a smooth texture. Pair with the provided light snack to balance the wine's acidity — mild cheese, plain crackers, or olives work well.

Taste

If there is remaining wine, reseal with the cork or a reusable wine stopper and refrigerate. Consume within 2–3 days for best freshness; the wine's bright acidity helps preservation but aromatics will fade.
