Chill the bottle to a serving temperature of about 14–16°C (57–61°F). Remove foil and cut the capsule cleanly. Using a waiter’s corkscrew, remove the cork gently to avoid agitation; for older corks, ease the cork slowly to prevent crumbling.

Inspect & open

Pour the wine slowly into a clean decanter, filling to about one-third full to allow oxygen contact. Let the wine rest in the decanter for 20–45 minutes. Decanting will soften the approachable tannins, open floral aromatics, and accentuate bright fruit and clean acidity. If you prefer minimal exposure, simply pour directly into glasses.

Decant (optional)

After 10–20 minutes of decanting (or immediately if not decanting), taste the wine to confirm its aromatics and acidity balance. If the wine seems too warm, briefly place the bottle in an ice bucket for 5–10 minutes. If the wine is too cool and muted, let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes.

Taste & adjust serving

Use a standard red wine glass with a moderately large bowl. Pour 120–150 ml (about 4–5 oz) per serving to allow space for swirling. Hold the bottle at the base and pour in a steady stream; stop before drips form on the lip.

Pouring

If serving meat, grill or pan-sear 200 g skirt steak seasoned with salt and pepper until medium-rare to medium (about 3–4 minutes per side depending on thickness). Let rest 5 minutes, then slice thinly across the grain. For cheese, slice 150–200 g aged manchego or similar, bring to room temperature 20–30 minutes before serving to reveal flavor.

Prepare accompaniments

Arrange sliced meat or cheese on a board with crusty bread slices. Add a sprig of rosemary or thyme for aromatic pairing. Provide a small carafe or glass of chilled water for palate cleansing between sips.

Plate and garnish

Sip the Malbec with bites of the chosen accompaniment. Note the wine’s bright, youthful floral notes, medium body, approachable tannins, and clean acidity. Re-taste throughout the bottle to observe opening and development.
