Daiquiri
Method
Daiquiri
Chill glass
Place a coupe or chilled cocktail glass in the freezer for 5β10 minutes or fill it with ice and water while you prepare the drink to ensure the cocktail stays crisp and cold.
Measure ingredients
Measure 2 oz white rum, 1 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.75 oz simple syrup into a cocktail shaker.
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker with approximately 1 cup of ice. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10β15 seconds (about 12β15 shakes) until the outside of the shaker becomes very cold and you hear the ice well broken. This both chills and dilutes the drink to the ideal balance.
Double strain and serve
Open the shaker and double-strain the contents through a fine mesh strainer (to catch small ice shards and pulp) into the prepared chilled coupe (or over the crushed ice if using).
Garnish and finish
Float or rest a lime wheel or twist on the rim of the glass. Serve immediately while very cold.
