In a large pot, heat 48 cups of water to about 160°F (70°C). Add the malted barley and maintain the temperature for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Mashing

After mashing, separate the liquid (wort) from the grains. Bring the wort to a boil and add the hops. Boil for 60 minutes, adding more hops as desired for flavor.

Boiling

Once boiling is complete, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath until it reaches about 70°F (21°C).

Cooling

Transfer the cooled wort to a fermentation vessel. Add yeast and seal the vessel with an airlock. Allow it to ferment at room temperature for about 1-2 weeks.

Fermentation

Once fermentation is complete, mix priming sugar with a small amount of water and add it to the beer. Bottle the beer and cap each bottle.

Bottling

Let the bottles sit at room temperature for another 1-2 weeks for carbonation to develop. Then, chill and enjoy your domestic beer!
