Preparation Steps

1

Brown the Butter

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Continue cooking, stirring frequently, until the butter turns a golden brown color and has a nutty aroma, about 5-7 minutes. Be careful not to burn it.

2

Mix the Base

Once the butter is browned, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly. In a cocktail shaker, combine the rye whiskey, amaro, apricot liqueur, and cooled brown butter. Stir well to blend the flavors.

3

Add Seasoning

Add the espelette pepper and shoyu to the shaker. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to chill and combine the ingredients.

4

Strain and Serve

Strain the mixture into a chilled cocktail glass. Optionally, garnish with a twist of orange peel or a sprinkle of extra espelette pepper for an added touch.
