Method
Base Tea
Brew tea
Brew 2 cups strong black tea and 1 cup strong green tea using double the usual tea leaves or bags for 1.5–3 minutes longer than normal to achieve a robust flavor. Allow both to cool to room temperature, or chill in the refrigerator for 20–30 minutes.
Once cooled, strain tea if using loose leaf and combine black and green tea in a pitcher. Stir gently to mix.
Fruit & Flavor
Add 1 cup of your chosen fruit juice/nectar to the combined tea. For a classic Snapple-style iced tea, pick one dominant fruit (apple, peach, or mango).
Stir in 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice to brighten the flavor.
If you want more pronounced fruit flavor or sweetness, add 1 tablespoon fruit syrup or simple syrup and stir to incorporate.
Sweetening & Balance
Dissolve 1 tablespoon granulated sugar or honey in 1/2 cup cold water (or use hot water for faster dissolution then cool). Taste the tea mixture and add this sweetener solution gradually until the desired sweetness is reached. Typical Snapple sweetness is moderately sweet; adjust to taste.
If mixture tastes too strong, dilute with up to 1/2 cup extra cold water to reach preferred strength.
