Pizza Dough & Assembly

Method

Pizza Dough & Assembly

1

Preheat and prep

Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C) with a pizza stone or inverted baking sheet on the middle rack for at least 30 minutes. Lightly dust a pizza peel or work surface with the all-purpose flour.

2

On the floured surface, gently stretch or roll the prepared pizza dough into a 12-inch round (or desired shape) about 1/4-inch thick. Transfer to a floured pizza peel or an oiled baking sheet if not using a stone.

3

Brush the outer 1/2-inch rim of the dough with olive oil to help it brown and add flavor.

Sauce & Seasoning

4

In a small bowl, combine the pizza sauce, minced garlic, dried oregano, crushed red pepper flakes, and salt. Stir to combine and taste; adjust salt or red pepper to your preference.

5

Spread an even layer of the seasoned pizza sauce over the stretched dough, leaving the oiled rim clear, using about 3/4 to 1 cup of sauce depending on preference.

Steak & Vegetables

6

Sear the shaved steak

Heat a large skillet over high heat until very hot. Add 1/2 tablespoon of oil. Add the shaved steak in an even layer and sear undisturbed for 30–60 seconds to get some browning, then stir and cook until just browned, about 1–2 minutes total. Remove steak from pan and set aside. Season lightly with freshly ground black pepper.

7

Caramelize the onion and pepper

In the same skillet, add the remaining 1/2 tablespoon oil and reduce heat to medium. Add the thinly sliced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and lightly caramelized, about 8–10 minutes. Add the sliced green bell pepper during the last 4 minutes of cooking so it softens but retains a bit of texture.

8

Combine the cooked steak with the caramelized onions and peppers in the skillet to warm together for 1 minute. Taste and adjust seasoning with a pinch of salt and more black pepper if needed.

9

Scatter the warmed steak and vegetable mixture evenly over the sauced pizza. Distribute the banana pepper rings on top in desired amounts.

Cheese & Finishing

10

Layer the provolone slices (or evenly distribute shredded provolone) over the steak mixture so they melt directly on top. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella evenly over the pizza, finishing with grated Parmesan across the surface.

11

Carefully slide the assembled pizza onto the preheated stone or baking sheet. Bake at 500°F (260°C) for 7–10 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheeses are bubbling and slightly browned. Baking time will vary by oven and thickness of dough.

12

Remove the pizza from the oven and let it rest 2–3 minutes. Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley or oregano if using. Slice into 8 pieces and serve hot.
