Dough & Assembly
preheat and prepare surface
Preheat the oven to 500°F (260°C) with a pizza stone or heavy baking sheet on the middle rack for at least 30 minutes. Lightly dust a work surface with the all-purpose flour.
Stretch or roll the pizza dough into a 12-inch round using your hands or a rolling pin. Transfer dough to a piece of parchment paper or a well-floured pizza peel. Brush the edge of the dough lightly with 1 tablespoon olive oil to promote browning.
Sauce
In a small bowl, combine the Alfredo sauce, minced garlic, and freshly ground black pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning — add up to 1/4 tsp salt if needed. Spread the Alfredo mixture evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a 3/4-inch border for the crust (about 3 tablespoons of sauce).
Toppings
Cheeses
Evenly sprinkle the shredded mozzarella over the toppings to cover most of the surface (about 1 1/2 cups). Finish with the grated Parmesan evenly scattered on top (about 1/2 cup). This layer will melt and brown in the oven, creating the classic cheese finish.
Baking
Carefully slide the pizza (on parchment) onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake at 500°F (260°C) for 8–12 minutes, rotating once halfway, until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and beginning to brown. Baking time depends on oven and thickness of dough; watch closely after 8 minutes.
If you prefer a slightly crisper top, switch to broil for 30–60 seconds at the end—watch constantly to prevent burning.
Finishing & Garnish
Remove the pizza from the oven and transfer to a cutting board. Immediately grate the optional lemon zest over the hot pizza (about 1 teaspoon) to brighten flavors. Sprinkle the chopped parsley or shredded romaine (2 tablespoons) across the pizza and add red pepper flakes if desired.
Let the pizza rest 2–3 minutes, then slice into 6–8 slices. Serve hot.
