Salad Base

Garlic Butter Croutons

Method

Salad Base

1

Prepare Romaine Lettuce

Wash and dry the romaine lettuce thoroughly. Chop or tear into bite-sized pieces and place in a large salad bowl.

2

Add Parmesan

Sprinkle the shaved Parmesan cheese over the romaine lettuce. Set aside while you prepare the croutons and dressing.

Garlic Butter Croutons

3

Prepare Garlic Butter

In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to brown the garlic.

4

Toast Bread Cubes

Add the cubed French bread to the skillet. Toss to coat evenly in the garlic butter. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper.

5

Bake Croutons

Transfer the coated bread cubes to a baking sheet and bake in a preheated 375°F (190°C) oven for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy. Let cool.

Caesar Dressing

6

Make the Dressing

In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, garlic, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, anchovy paste, and grated Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Whisk until smooth and well combined.

Assemble the Salad

7

Combine All Components

Add the cooled croutons to the salad bowl with the romaine and Parmesan. Drizzle with Caesar dressing and toss to coat all ingredients evenly.

8

Serve

Divide the salad among serving plates and top with additional shaved Parmesan if desired. Serve immediately.
