1. Prepare the Shrimp
In a bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk.
2. Batter the Shrimp
Dip each shrimp into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then coat it in the flour mixture. Set aside on a plate.
3. Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
4. Fry the Shrimp
Carefully place a few shrimp in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
5. Cook the Fries
While frying the shrimp, cook the frozen French fries according to package instructions.
6. Serve
