Preparation Instructions
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease four ramekins with unsalted butter and dust with granulated sugar to prevent sticking.
Make the Base
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until it forms a paste. Gradually whisk in the milk, and continue whisking until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
Whip Egg Whites
In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar while continuing to beat until the mixture is glossy.
Bake the Souffles
Divide the mixture evenly among the prepared ramekins. Place them in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, until the souffles are puffed and golden.
Serve
Remove from the oven and serve immediately, dusted with additional powdered sugar if desired.
