Cooking Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the boiling water.

Cook Pasta
Add 2 cups of pasta to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.

Drain Pasta
Once pasta is cooked, drain it in a colander and set aside.
Making Marinara Sauce

Heat Olive Oil
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

Sauté Garlic
Add 2 minced garlic cloves to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

Add Tomatoes
Pour in the 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes and stir well.

Season Sauce
Add 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 0.5 teaspoon of salt, and 0.25 teaspoon of black pepper. Stir to combine.

Simmer Sauce
Let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Combining Pasta and Sauce

Mix Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained pasta to the marinara sauce in the skillet and toss until the pasta is well coated.

Add Cheese
Sprinkle 0.5 cups of grated Parmesan cheese and 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese over the pasta and sauce mixture. Toss gently to combine.
Serving

Plate and Serve
Serve the pasta hot, garnished with extra cheese if desired. Enjoy!
