Cafeteria Burger Ingredients

Method

Cafeteria Burger Directions

1

Prepare the Patties

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

2

Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick.

3

Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and top with cheddar cheese. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness.

4

Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and lightly toast them on the grill or skillet.

5

Assemble the Burgers

On the bottom half of each bun, layer lettuce, a cooked patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, and condiments like ketchup and mustard as desired. Top with the other half of the bun.

6

Serve

Serve the burgers hot with your favorite sides.
