Bolognese Sauce
Method
Cooking the Pasta
Boil the Water
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over high heat.
Cook the Fettuccine
Add the fettuccine to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually around 8-10 minutes, until al dente.
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, drain the fettuccine in a colander and set aside.
Preparing the Bolognese Sauce
Sauté the Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion, diced carrot, and diced celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, until the vegetables are softened.
Add Garlic and Beef
Stir in the minced garlic and ground beef. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it up with a spoon, approximately 8-10 minutes.
Incorporate Tomato Paste
Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes to deepen the flavor.
Add Crushed Tomatoes and Wine
Pour in the crushed tomatoes and red wine, stirring to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
Season the Sauce
Add dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Combining and Serving
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Once the sauce is ready, toss the cooked fettuccine in the skillet with the Bolognese sauce until well coated.
Serve
Plate the fettuccine Bolognese and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
