Method
Coffee & Water
Measure beans
Weigh or measure coffee beans using the standard coffee ratio of 1 to 2 tablespoons (0.33 oz ~ 9.4 g) per 6 ounces of water. For 12 cups (approximately 96 fl oz) of brewed coffee use about 0.33 oz (roughly 9–10 g per 6 oz portion × 16 = amounts scaled) — adjust to taste. (Note: the provided quantity assumes a medium-strength brew for ~12 cups.)
Grind beans
Grind the organic whole beans just before brewing. For drip or coffee maker use a medium grind (similar to granulated sugar). If using a French press use a coarse grind; for pour-over use a medium-fine grind. Ensure an even grind for consistent extraction.
Prepare water
Fill the coffee maker’s reservoir with 12 cups (about 2.8 liters / 96 fl oz) of fresh cold water. If possible, use filtered water for best flavor. Heat water to 195–205°F (90–96°C) if using a manual brew method; automatic drip machines will heat to the appropriate range.
Load filter and coffee
Place a clean paper filter or reusable filter in the brew basket. Add the ground coffee to the filter, leveling it gently so water will pass evenly through the bed.
Brew
Start the brewing cycle. For automatic drip: run the machine and allow it to complete its cycle (about 8–10 minutes for this volume depending on machine). For pour-over: pour a small amount of hot water over grounds to bloom for 30–45 seconds, then continue pouring slowly in concentric circles until you reach the total water volume. For French press: add hot water, stir gently, steep 4 minutes, then press slowly.
Serve
Once brewing is complete, pour brewed coffee into pre-warmed cups or a thermal carafe to maintain temperature and flavor. Avoid leaving coffee on a hot plate for extended periods to prevent bitterness.
Optional Additions
Customize
Stir in milk or cream, sugar, or flavored syrup to taste. Start with 1–2 teaspoons of sugar or 1 tablespoon of syrup and adjust. If serving multiple cups, set additions on the table for guests to personalize.
Decaf note
If using decaf beans, follow the same grind and brew parameters. Decaf can taste slightly different — adjust grind or brew time to brighten flavor if needed.
