Method

Iced Tea

1

Steep the tea

Bring 720 ml (about 3 cups) of water just to a boil. Remove from heat, add 3 black tea bags, and steep for 4 to 5 minutes for a balanced strength (longer for stronger tea).

2

If making sweet tea: while the tea is still hot, add 2 tablespoons granulated sugar and stir until fully dissolved. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature (about 20–30 minutes), then transfer to the refrigerator to chill until cold (about 30 minutes to 1 hour). Remove tea bags and discard.

Lemonade

3

Make simple lemonade

In a pitcher, combine 120 ml (1/2 cup) fresh lemon juice and 60 g (about 1/3 cup) granulated sugar. Stir until sugar begins to dissolve, then add 360 ml cold water and stir until sugar is fully dissolved. Taste and adjust: add more water if too tart or more sugar if too sharp.

4

Chill the lemonade in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes if not using immediately. For quicker cooling, add a few ice cubes but account that they will dilute when serving.

To Serve

5

Combine and serve

Fill two glasses with 3 ice cubes each. Pour chilled iced tea and lemonade into each glass in a 1:1 ratio (about 180 ml tea and 180 ml lemonade per serving) — adjust to taste for sweeter or stronger lemon flavor. Stir gently to combine.

6

Garnish each glass with a lemon slice and a sprig of fresh mint if desired. Serve immediately.
