Coffee

Method

Coffee

1

Brew

Brew 3 oz (about 1 standard espresso shot + a little) of very strong hot coffee. Keep it hot and fresh. If the brew is extremely concentrated, you can add a splash of hot water to reach desired strength.

Liqueur & Flavor

2

Preheat a heatproof glass or Irish coffee glass by rinsing with hot water, then discard the water.

3

Pour 1.5 oz Baileys Irish Cream into the warmed glass.

4

Add 2 tsp orange-flower (azahar) water to the Baileys. Taste carefully: orange-flower water is potent; 2 tsp provides a floral note without overpowering. If you prefer a brighter orange note, add 0.5 oz orange liqueur (optional).

5

Pour the hot coffee over the Baileys mixture slowly, leaving the top free for cream. Stir gently once to combine the liqueur, orange-flower water, and coffee. Taste and add 0.25 oz simple syrup (or a scant 1/2 tsp sugar dissolved) if you prefer sweeter.

Sweetener & Finish

6

If using cream: lightly whip 1 oz heavy cream just until it thickens slightly but is still pourable (soft peaks are not necessary). Gently float the cream on top of the coffee by pouring it over the back of a spoon so it layers.

7

Garnish with a light grating of orange zest or a single small orange blossom if available. Serve immediately while hot.
