Ingredients

Espresso

Frothy Milk

Preparation

Preparing Espresso

1. Brew the Espresso

In an espresso machine, add 18g of espresso coffee grounds to the portafilter. Pack it down firmly and attach it to the machine. Start the brewing process, ensuring that you have a cup placed beneath to catch the espresso. Brew for about 25-30 seconds until you have a rich shot of espresso (about 30-40ml).

2. Add Water

If using an espresso machine that requires additional water, measure out 240ml of water and ensure that it is heated to the appropriate temperature (around 90-95°C). This is typically already controlled by the espresso machine.

Frothing the Milk

3. Heat the Milk

In a small saucepan, pour 200ml of whole milk. Heat the milk gently over medium heat until it is warm but not boiling (around 65-70°C). Stir occasionally to prevent scorching.

4. Froth the Milk

Once the milk is warm, use a milk frother or a whisk to froth the milk until it doubles in volume and has a creamy texture. If you don't have a frother, you can vigorously whisk it by hand or shake it in a jar with a lid until frothy.

Assembling the Cappuccino

5. Combine

Pour the brewed espresso into a large cup. Gently pour the frothed milk over the espresso, allowing the foam to rise to the top. You can pour the milk in a circular motion to create a layered effect.

6. Sweeten and Garnish

Add sugar to taste if desired. For an optional garnish, sprinkle a light dusting of cocoa powder on top of the froth.
