Cocktail
Prep glass
Select a rocks glass or double old-fashioned glass. Fill it with crushed ice and set aside to chill while you build the cocktail.
Muddle mint
In a cocktail shaker, add the fresh mint leaves (8 leaves). Add the lemon juice (0.75 oz) and Velvet Falernum (0.5 oz). Gently muddle 6–8 times — press to release oils and aromatics but avoid shredding the mint to prevent bitterness.
Add spirits and bitters
Add the Bulleit Bourbon (2 oz) to the shaker. Add the peach bitters (3 dashes). If you prefer a slightly sweeter cocktail, add optional simple syrup (0.25 oz).
Shake
Add ice to the shaker (enough to fill). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until well-chilled and slightly diluted.
Double-strain and serve
Double-strain the shaken cocktail into the prepared glass over the crushed ice to keep mint fragments out of the drink while retaining aromatic oils. Gently mound the crushed ice on top if needed.
Serve
Serve immediately with a short straw so the drinker can get aroma and flavor simultaneously.
