Ingredients for French Fries
Directions for Making French Fries
1. Preparation of Potatoes
Peel the Russet potatoes and cut them into thin strips or wedges, depending on your preference. Rinse the cut potatoes under cold water to remove excess starch, then soak them in cold water for at least 30 minutes.
2. Drying the Potatoes
After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels. Ensure they are as dry as possible to prevent splattering during frying.
3. Heating the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of potato in; it should sizzle immediately.
4. Frying the Potatoes
Carefully add a handful of the dried potato strips into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove the fries and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
5. Seasoning
While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt, black pepper, and paprika to taste.
6. Serving
Serve the French fries hot, as a side dish or snack, with your favorite dipping sauce.
