Method

Prep Rim

1

Prepare the glass

Pour the tablespoon of kosher or sea salt onto a small plate and spread into an even layer. Take the lime wedge and run it around the outer rim of the chilled serving glass to moisten it. Dip the moistened rim into the salt, twisting to coat evenly. Set the glass aside.

Mix Cocktail

2

Measure & combine

Add 2 oz tequila, 1 oz Cointreau and 1 oz fresh lime juice to a cocktail shaker. If you prefer a slightly sweeter Margarita, add 0.5 oz simple syrup.

3

Add ice & shake

Fill the shaker with about 1 cup of ice. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker feels cold and slightly frosted.

4

Strain

Place a strainer over the shaker (or use the shaker's built-in strainer) and pour the cocktail into the prepared glass over fresh ice (if serving on the rocks) or without ice into a chilled coupe for a straight-up Margarita.

Garnish & Serve

5

Garnish with the remaining lime wedge on the rim or floated in the drink. Serve immediately.

Notes

6

Use freshly squeezed lime juice for best flavor. Adjust the simple syrup to taste depending on tartness of limes and personal preference. Swap Cointreau for triple sec or Grand Marnier if desired; adjust proportions slightly to taste.
