Method
Bucket (serving container)
Prepare bucket
Select a clean 5-quart plastic or galvanized bucket. Rinse it with cold water to remove any dust or residue. Place the bucket on a stable table or cooler surface where guests can easily reach it.
Add 8 cups of ice (cubed or crushed) to the bucket, creating an even bed of ice that will keep the beers cold without fully submerging labeled portions of bottles/cans.
Beer
Chill bottles or cans briefly in the refrigerator if they are not already cold. Cold beer will chill faster and reduce excessive dilution from melting ice.
Top up with a handful more ice around the bottles/cans if needed to stabilize them and maintain temperature.
Garnish & extras (optional)
If desired, prepare lime wedges and a small plate of salt for guests to rim their bottle or glass: cut 2 limes into wedges and place them beside the bucket with 2 teaspoons of salt in a small dish.
Place beer-friendly snacks (about 2 cups) next to the bucket for easy access. Replenish ice as needed during service to keep beers cold.
