Bread

Butter and Seasoning

Optional Toppings

Method

Setup

  1. 1

If using an oven broiler, preheat to high and position a rack about 6 inches from the heat. If using a skillet, heat it over medium heat.

  2. 2

Line a baking sheet or have a large skillet ready for toasting the bread.

Butter Mixture

  1. 3

In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, garlic powder, and salt until well combined.

  2. 4

If desired, set aside a small portion of the butter mixture for brushing on the second side later.

Prepare the Bread

  1. 5

Brush one side of each bread slice with the butter mixture, ensuring an even coat from edge to edge.

Toast

  1. 6

Place the buttered side down on the hot surface (broiler rack or skillet). Toast until the bottom is golden brown and crisp, about 1–2 minutes under a broiler or 2–3 minutes per side in a skillet. If using an oven, monitor closely to avoid burning.

  2. 7

Remove slices briefly if you want to toast the other side. Brush the top side with the remaining butter mixture (or the reserved portion) and return to heat to toast the other side until golden.

Finish and Serve

  1. 8

If using toppings, sprinkle parmesan cheese over the hot toast and allow it to melt slightly. Finish with chopped parsley for color and aroma.

  2. 9

Transfer to a plate and serve immediately while warm.
