Cauliflower Wings
General Tao Sauce
Method
Preparation of Cauliflower Wings
Prepare the Cauliflower
Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Cut the cauliflower into bite-sized florets and set aside.
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and salt. Gradually add water to form a smooth batter.
Coat the Cauliflower
Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, ensuring it’s fully coated, then place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake the Wings
Bake the cauliflower wings in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
Preparation of General Tao Sauce
Make the Sauce
In a saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and ginger. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
Thicken the Sauce
In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Slowly add this to the saucepan while stirring until the sauce thickens.
Finishing Touches
Combine Wings and Sauce
Once the cauliflower wings are done baking, toss them in the General Tao sauce until fully coated.
Garnish and Serve
Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top and serve immediately.
