Garnish & Glass
Method
Cocktail
- 1
Measure and combine
Into a cocktail shaker add 2 oz reposado tequila, 1 oz Aperol, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz fresh orange juice, 0.5 oz agave syrup, 0.25 oz triple sec (if using) and 2 dashes orange bitters (if using).
- 2
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker with ice (about 5–6 medium cubes or enough to nearly fill). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the exterior of the shaker is very cold and slightly frosted; this chills and dilutes the drink to balance flavors.
- 3
Prepare glass
If desired, run the lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or coupe glass. Dip the rim lightly into the coarse salt or sugar to coat. Add 2–3 large ice cubes to the glass.
- 4
Strain and serve
Double-strain the cocktail (using the shaker’s strainer and a fine mesh strainer if available) over the prepared glass with fresh large ice cubes. This removes small ice shards and pulp for a clean texture.
Garnish & Finish
- 5
Garnish by expressing an orange twist over the drink to release oils, then drop a thin orange wheel or twist onto the surface and finish with the lime wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.
