Base Ingredients

Method

Preparation of Ice Cream

1

Scoop the Ice Cream

Use an ice cream scoop to form 4 generous scoops of vanilla ice cream. Place them on a plate and freeze for at least 1 hour to firm up.

Coating the Ice Cream

2

Prepare Cornflake Coating

Crush the cornflakes in a bowl until they are coarsely ground but not powdered. This will create a crunchy coating for the ice cream.

3

Coat the Ice Cream

Remove the frozen ice cream scoops from the freezer. Roll each scoop in the crushed cornflakes until well coated. Place the coated scoops back on the plate and freeze for another 30 minutes.

Frying the Ice Cream

4

Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat 2 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

5

Fry the Coated Ice Cream

Carefully drop each coated ice cream scoop into the hot oil, frying for about 10-15 seconds until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

Serving the Flaming Fried Ice Cream

6

Plating

Place the fried ice cream scoops on serving plates. Top each scoop with a generous dollop of whipped cream, fresh strawberries, and a drizzle of chocolate syrup.

7

Flaming the Dessert

In a small saucepan, gently heat 0.25 cup of high-proof alcohol (e.g., Bacardi 151) until warm but not boiling. Carefully pour the warm alcohol over the ice cream scoops. Using a long lighter or match, ignite the alcohol for a spectacular flame. Serve immediately while the flames are still flickering.
