Espresso & Base

Method

Espresso & Base

1

Brew espresso

Brew two shots (about 2 oz) of espresso. If you don’t have an espresso machine, brew 2 oz of very strong coffee. Pour the hot espresso into a pre-warmed 12-oz serving mug or glass.

2

Steam milk

Steam 8 oz whole milk until it’s hot and slightly frothy, reserving about 1 oz of foam on top. If you don’t have a steamer, heat milk on the stovetop until steaming (do not boil) and froth with a whisk or handheld frother.

3

Pour the steamed milk into the mug with the espresso, holding back the foam with a spoon. Stir gently to combine espresso and milk.

Chocolate & Sweeteners

4

Add chocolate syrup

Spoon 2 tablespoons of chocolate syrup into the mug with the coffee and milk. Stir thoroughly until the syrup is fully incorporated. Taste and add up to 1 teaspoon granulated sugar if you prefer a sweeter drink.

5

For an extra chocolate rim, drizzle additional chocolate syrup inside the serving glass before pouring the drink.

Toppings & Mix-ins

6

Top with whipped cream

Spoon or pipe about 3 tablespoons of whipped topping onto the surface of the mocha, over the reserved foam.

7

Add chocolate chips

Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of mini chocolate chips (or finely chopped chocolate) evenly over the whipped topping so they sit atop the cream.

8

Garnish with Kit Kat

Break one Kit Kat bar into 2–3 stick-sized pieces and insert them gently into the whipped cream at a slight angle so they’re partially submerged and visible.

9

Optional: Dust a pinch (about 1 tsp) of cocoa powder over the whipped cream and drizzle a little extra chocolate syrup over the top for presentation.

10

Serve immediately with a long spoon or straw so the drinker can stir in the chips and Kit Kat pieces as desired.
