Smoothie Base

Method

Smoothie Base

  1. 1

    Prepare banana

Peel the ripe banana and break it into 2–3 pieces. If you prefer an extra-cold, thicker smoothie, slice and freeze the banana for at least 1 hour before using.

  2. 2

    Assemble in blender

Add the banana pieces, 3 tablespoons peanut butter, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, 1/4 cup Greek yogurt (if using), and 1.5 cups unsweetened almond milk into a high-speed blender.

  3. 3

    Sweeten and flavor

Add 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup if you want more sweetness, plus 1/2 teaspoon cocoa powder if using for a chocolate note, and 1 teaspoon ground flaxseed or chia seeds for fiber. These are optional but recommended for balance.

  4. 4

    Add ice and blend

Add 4 ice cubes to the blender. Blend on high for 45–60 seconds, or until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. Stop and scrape down the sides with a spatula once if needed, then blend again for 10–15 seconds.

  5. 5

    Adjust consistency

If the smoothie is too thick, add almond milk 1–2 tablespoons at a time and pulse to reach desired consistency. If too thin, add a few more ice cubes or 1–2 tablespoons peanut butter and blend briefly.

Finish & Serve

  1. 6

Taste and adjust sweetness or salt — a tiny pinch of salt can brighten peanut butter flavor. Pour the smoothie into a 16–20 oz glass.

  2. 7

Garnish with a sprinkle of crushed peanuts or a few banana slices and an extra dusting of cocoa powder if desired.

  3. 8

Serve immediately with a wide straw. Enjoy as a post-workout recovery drink or a protein-rich breakfast.
