Garnishes & Finishing
Base (for all milkshakes)
1. Prepare blender: chill the blender jar briefly if desired. Add 2 cups whole milk, 3 cups vanilla ice cream, 1 tablespoon granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to the blender.
2. Optional thickness: add up to 4 oz ice if you prefer a thicker, frostier shake. Do not overfill—leave room for mix-ins.
3. Pulse 3–4 times on low to break up the ice cream, then blend on medium-high for 20–30 seconds until smooth but still thick. Stop and scrape down sides once if needed.
4. Taste the base. It should be sweet and creamy but neutral enough to accept flavor additions. Portion the base into serving glasses or keep in the blender to add flavors per below.
Vanilla
Chocolate
6. To make Chocolate milkshake: add 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder and 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup to the base in the blender. Blend 10–15 seconds until uniform and glossy. If too thick, add up to 2 tablespoons milk.
7. Drizzle chocolate syrup inside the serving glass before pouring for visual ‘black & chocolate’ effect. Garnish with chocolate shavings or sprinkles and whipped cream.
Strawberry
8. If using frozen strawberries, thaw slightly for 5 minutes. Add 1 cup hulled strawberries and 1 tablespoon strawberry syrup or jam to the base in the blender.
9. Blend 15–20 seconds until bright pink and smooth. Taste and add 1–2 teaspoons sugar if berries are tart. Pour and garnish with a fresh strawberry and whipped cream.
Gourmet Espresso
10. Add 1 cooled shot of strong espresso (or 1 teaspoon instant espresso dissolved in 1 tablespoon hot water) and 1 teaspoon espresso powder to the base in the blender.
11. Blend 8–12 seconds. The espresso will thin the shake slightly; if too runny, add an extra 1/4 cup ice cream. Serve immediately with a dusting of cocoa or espresso powder and whipped cream.
Mint Chocolate Chip
12. For fresh mint: bruise 6 mint leaves by rubbing between fingers then add to the blender. If using extract, add 1 teaspoon peppermint extract instead. Also add 1 tablespoon mini chocolate chips and 1 teaspoon green food coloring if desired.
13. Blend briefly 6–8 seconds—overblending with fresh mint can create bitterness. Fold in an additional tablespoon of mini chips by stirring with a spoon to keep chips intact. Garnish with whipped cream and a sprig of mint.
Peanut Butter
14. Add 3 tablespoons creamy peanut butter to the base in the blender. Blend 10–15 seconds until fully emulsified.
15. Taste for salt and sweetness; add 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup if desired. Pour and sprinkle peanut butter chips on top with whipped cream.
Black & White
16. For visual contrast: drizzle 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup inside the serving glass. In the blender, add 2 tablespoons white chocolate chips or white chocolate syrup to the base and blend 10 seconds.
17. Pour into the prepared glass so the chocolate swirls show. Top with a few chocolate shavings and whipped cream.
Oreo Blast
18. Add 6 crushed Oreo cookies to the base in the blender. Pulse 3–4 times to break cookies into small pieces, then blend 8–10 seconds so you retain flecks of cookie throughout.
19. Rub a little chocolate syrup on the rim and dip the glass into 2 crushed Oreos for a cookie rim. Pour shake, top with whipped cream, and sprinkle extra cookie crumbs.
Salted Caramel Pretzel
20. Add 2 tablespoons salted caramel sauce, 1 tablespoon crushed mini pretzels, and 1/4 teaspoon sea salt to the base in the blender. Blend 8–10 seconds to combine while keeping some pretzel texture.
21. Drizzle extra caramel inside the serving glass. Pour the shake, top with whipped cream, additional crushed pretzels, a drizzle of caramel, and a light pinch of sea salt to finish.
Garnishes & Finishing
22. After pouring any flavored shake into a chilled glass, top with about 2 tablespoons (or to taste) whipped cream. Add chocolate shavings or sprinkles and place a maraschino cherry on top.
