Preparation

1

Sanitize bottle

If using a reusable bottle, wash it with warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and optionally sanitize by filling with boiling water for 1 minute, then empty and let cool. If using a sealed disposable bottle from a reputable source, inspect the cap seal and bottle integrity.

2

Filter water (if needed)

If your tap water is not already filtered, run it through a home water filter or use commercially filtered water. Fill a clean container and refrigerate briefly if you prefer colder water.

3

Fill bottle

Pour 500 ml of cold filtered water into the clean bottle, leaving a little headspace (about 1–2 cm) to allow for expansion if refrigerating or freezing.

4

Add ice (optional)

If you want chilled water immediately, add 4 ice cubes to the bottle. If using a narrow-neck bottle that won't accept ice, chill the water in the refrigerator instead.

5

Add garnish (optional)

For a mild flavor, drop in 1 thin lemon slice. Do not leave citrus in the bottle for extended periods (more than a few hours) to avoid altering taste and acidity.

6

Seal and store

Tightly screw on the cap. Store the bottled water upright in the refrigerator for best taste, or carry it at ambient temperature if consuming within a few hours. For long-term storage, keep sealed and stored in a cool, dark place.

7

Serve

Open the bottle and drink directly or pour into a glass. Discard leftover water that has been standing with added garnish or ice for more than 24 hours, or within 48 hours for plain filtered water once opened and refrigerated.
