Method

Build & Stir

1

Measure and combine

Add 1.5 oz Arette Reposado Tequila, 0.5 oz joven mezcal, 0.5 oz agave syrup, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, 2 dashes orange bitters and 1 dash Angostura bitters into a mixing glass.

2

Add ice and stir

Fill the mixing glass with large ice cubes and stir gently for 20–30 seconds (about 20–30 strokes) until well chilled and properly diluted.

Prepare Glass & Garnish

3

If using smoked sea salt, moisten the rim of a rocks glass lightly with a lime wedge and dip the rim into the smoked sea salt to coat a thin edge. Alternatively, omit the rim and simply place the salt as a light pinch on top of the drink after pouring.

4

Strain the chilled cocktail over one large ice cube or fresh large ice cubes into the prepared rocks glass.

5

Express a lime twist or squeeze a lime wheel over the drink to release oils, then garnish with the wheel or twist on the rim. Optionally add a very light pinch of smoked sea salt on top to accentuate agave and smoke.

Serve

6

Serve immediately. Sip slowly to appreciate the interplay of reposado's oak and agave, mezcal's smoke, the brightness of lime, and the bitters' complexity.
