Cocktail
Optional/Batching (per 6 cocktails)
Method
Cocktail
Chill glass
Place an Old Fashioned / rocks glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the drink to chill it, then discard the ice water before assembling.
Combine ingredients
In a mixing glass, add 2 oz Old Forester 86, 0.5 oz Mr. Black coffee liqueur, 0.5 oz house cold brew concentrate, 0.25 oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters.
Prepare serving glass
Place a single large ice cube into the chilled rocks glass.
Strain
Strain the stirred cocktail over the large ice cube in the rocks glass using a Hawthorne or julep strainer (or the mixing glass pour if you don't have a strainer).
Garnish and finish
Express the oils of one orange peel over the surface of the cocktail by holding the peel skin-side down about 3–4 inches above the drink and giving it a firm squeeze to spray the oils. Rub the peel around the rim of the glass, then drop it into the drink as garnish.
Serve
Serve immediately. Sip slowly to enjoy the balance of bourbon, coffee, and bitters.
Optional/Batching
Combine batch
In a clean pitcher or bottle, combine 12 oz Old Forester 86, 3 oz Mr. Black coffee liqueur, 3 oz house cold brew concentrate, 1.5 oz simple syrup, and 12 dashes Angostura bitters. Stir or gently invert to mix.
Chill and serve
Keep the batch refrigerated. When ready to serve, pour 3 oz of the batch over a large ice cube in a rocks glass, express an orange peel over the top and garnish. Adjust portion to serve 2 oz bourbon equivalent per cocktail if desired.
Storage
Stored in a sealed bottle in the refrigerator, the premix will keep well for up to 7 days. Stir or invert before use as some separation may occur.
