Traditional German-style Märzen brewed with German Pilsner, Munich, and Vienna malts. Rich in malt with a balance of clean hop bitterness.

In a large brew kettle, heat water to approximately 165°F (74°C). Add the German Pilsner, Munich, and Vienna malts. Stir well to ensure all grains are saturated.

Prepare the Mash

Maintain the mash temperature at around 150°F (65°C) for 60 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent clumping and promote even extraction of sugars.

Mashing Process

After 60 minutes, raise the temperature to 170°F (77°C) and sparge with enough water to collect around 6 gallons of wort.

Sparging

Bring the wort to a rolling boil. Once boiling, add the bittering hops and boil for 60 minutes.

Boil the Wort

With 15 minutes remaining in the boil, add the Noble hops to impart flavor and aroma.

Add Flavor Hops

After the boil, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath. Transfer the cooled wort into a sanitized fermentation vessel.

Cooling and Transferring

Sprinkle the German lager yeast over the cooled wort. Seal the fermentation vessel with an airlock.

Pitch the Yeast

Allow the beer to ferment at around 50°F (10°C) for 2-3 weeks until fermentation is complete.

Fermentation Process

Once fermentation is complete, prepare a priming solution by dissolving priming sugar in boiling water and allow it to cool.

Prepare Bottling

Add the priming solution to the beer before bottling. Fill sanitized bottles and cap them securely.

Bottling the Beer

Store the bottles at room temperature for 1-2 weeks to carbonate, then refrigerate before serving.
