Preparation

Preparation

1. Mash the Grains

In a large brew kettle, heat 6 liters of water to 150°F (65°C). Add the pale malt, caramel malt, and pilsner malt to the water and stir well. Maintain the temperature for 60 minutes.

2. Sparging

After the mash, sparge the grains with hot water to collect the wort, aiming for about 5 liters.

3. Boil the Wort

Bring the collected wort to a boil. Once boiling, add the Citra hops and boil for 30 minutes. Then add the Mosaic hops and continue boiling for another 15 minutes.

Fermentation

4. Cool the Wort

After the boil, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath until it reaches about 70°F (21°C).

5. Pitch the Yeast

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel. Sprinkle the American Ale yeast over the wort and seal the vessel.

6. Ferment

Allow the beer to ferment at room temperature (around 68-72°F or 20-22°C) for about 1-2 weeks or until fermentation is complete.

Add Adjuncts and Carbonate

7. Add Fruit Punch Juice and Lactose

Once fermentation is complete, gently stir in the fruit punch juice and lactose into the fermented beer.

8. Bottle and Carbonate

Transfer the beer into sanitized bottles, leaving some space at the top. Seal the bottles and let them carbonate at room temperature for another week.

Enjoy

9. Chill and Serve

Refrigerate the bottles for a few hours before serving. Pour into a glass, and enjoy your Juice Box Hero!
