Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for at least 10 minutes or fill it with ice and water while you prepare the cocktail to ensure the drink stays cold and retains texture.

2

Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker add 3 tbs dark chocolate liqueur, 1.5 tbs vodka, 1 tbs Irish cream liqueur, 1 tbs heavy cream, 0.5 tsp simple syrup (if using), and 0.5 tsp cooled espresso or strong coffee (if using).

3

Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker two-thirds full with fresh ice. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds until the outside of the shaker becomes frosty and you feel a good chill — this aerates the cream and gives a silky texture.

4

Strain

Discard ice or water from the chilled glass. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled glass using the shaker's strainer and a fine strainer if available to capture any small ice shards for a velvety finish.

Garnish & Finish

5

Lightly dust the surface with 1/4 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder, being careful not to overwhelm. Sprinkle 1 tsp dark chocolate shavings across the top for texture and aromatic richness. Place 1–2 whole coffee beans on the surface if desired for a classic chocolate-coffee aroma.

6

Serve immediately. Suggest pairing with small dark chocolate pieces or Austrian petit fours for an authentic treat.

Notes

7

Adjust sweetness by increasing or omitting simple syrup. For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream (results in less silky texture). Use a premium dark chocolate liqueur for the most authentic 'Mozart Chocolate Dark' flavor profile reflecting Austrian confection traditions.
