Bottle & Glass

Method

Preparation

1

Chill (if white or rosé)

If your Joel Gott half bottle is a white or rosé, place the bottle in a refrigerator for at least 1–2 hours before serving, or into an ice bucket for 15–20 minutes prior to opening. Target serving temperature: 45–52°F (7–11°C). Use a wine thermometer if available to confirm temperature.

2

Temperature for red

If the Joel Gott is a red wine, remove it from refrigeration 15–30 minutes before serving to bring it to a slightly cool or cellar temperature: about 55–65°F (13–18°C). For fuller-bodied reds, allow the bottle to sit upright to minimize sediment disturbance.

Opening & Pouring

3

Inspect the capsule and cork. Wipe the top of the bottle with a clean cloth to remove any dust or residue. If the bottle has a screw cap, simply unscrew and remove. If it has a cork, use a waiter’s corkscrew: center the screw on the cork, twist in 5–6 turns until secure, and gently lever the cork out in two stages to avoid breakage.

4

Briefly smell the cork or the inside of the bottle neck to confirm there is no musty or off odor. If wine smells corked or spoiled, do not serve and replace the bottle.

5

Hold the bottle at the base of the neck and pour a 1–2 ounce (30–60 ml) tasting pour into the glass. Present to the guest (or taste yourself) to confirm quality. If acceptable, proceed to pour remaining servings. For a half bottle (375 ml) pour roughly three 4–5 oz (120–150 ml) glasses or two generous 6–7 oz (180–210 ml) glasses depending on desired serving size.

6

Pour slowly with a slight twist at the end to avoid drips. Wipe the lip of the bottle with the cloth after pouring. Place the cork or capsule in the small bowl for the guest to see if desired.

Serving & Storage

7

Serve white/rosé chilled, reds at recommended temperature. Encourage guests to swirl the wine in the glass and take small sips to appreciate aroma and flavor development.

8

If the half bottle is not finished, reseal with the cork or a reusable wine stopper and store upright in the refrigerator for whites/rosés or in a cool dark place for reds. Consume remaining wine within 2–3 days for best quality; whites and rosés keep better when refrigerated.

9

Clean glassware with warm water and a mild detergent after use, rinse well, and dry with a lint-free towel to preserve future wine aromas.
