Cocktail
Optional / Rinse
Method
Cocktail
Optional orange rinse
If using an orange rinse, pour about 1/4 tsp of orange liqueur (or a few drops of cured orange oil) into the chilled glass, swirl to coat the inside, then discard any excess. This step adds a subtle orange aroma without changing balance.
Build and stir
Fill a mixing glass with the large ice cubes. Add 2 oz gin, 1/2 oz dry vermouth, and 2 dashes orange bitters. Stir gently for 20–30 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted (aim for ~20–25% dilution by volume — ice should make the outside of the mixing glass cold and slightly frosty).
Strain
Double-strain (use a julep or Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh if desired) into the pre-chilled serving glass, leaving the stirring ice behind in the mixing glass.
