Cocktail
Method
Cocktail
Combine ingredients
Add gin, maraschino liqueur, fresh lemon juice, and crème de violette to a cocktail shaker.
Add ice
Fill the shaker about two-thirds full with ice. Use fresh, large ice cubes if available to minimize dilution.
Shake
Shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the exterior of the shaker is very cold and slightly frosted. This both chills and properly dilutes the cocktail.
Double strain and serve
Double-strain the cocktail (using both the shaker strainer and a fine mesh strainer) into the chilled coupe or martini glass to remove small ice shards and any bits of pulp from the lemon juice. The drink should have a pale, slightly violet hue.
Garnish
Drop one maraschino cherry into the glass. Optionally express a lemon twist over the surface (squeeze the peel to spray oils) and discard or place it as an additional garnish.
Serve
Serve immediately. Sip and enjoy the bright citrus, floral violet top notes, and the subtle cherry-almond character from the maraschino liqueur.
