Method

Beef Patty

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef

In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and form each into a patty, making a slight indentation in the center.

  3. 3

    Grill the Patties

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness.

Toppings

  1. 4

    Sauté Onions

While the patties are cooking, slice the medium onion into thin strips. In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the onions and sauté until they are translucent and caramelized, about 8-10 minutes.

  2. 5

    Add Cheese

Once the patties are cooked, place 1 slice of cheddar cheese and 1 slice of American cheese on each patty. Cover the skillet to help the cheese melt, about 1-2 minutes.

Remoulade Sauce

  1. 6

    Prepare the Sauce

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, pickle relish, hot sauce, garlic powder, and lemon juice. Mix well until smooth.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Assemble the Patty Melt

Spread the remoulade sauce on one side of two slices of rye bread. Place a cheeseburger patty with sautéed onions on top, then top with another slice of rye bread to create a sandwich.

  2. 8

    Grill the Sandwich

In the same skillet, melt the remaining butter over medium heat. Grill the sandwich for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy.
