Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the NY Strip Steak from the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. This ensures even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the steak with salt and black pepper, pressing it into the meat to adhere.

  3. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat until the oil shimmers. Ensure the pan is hot enough to sear the steak.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

Carefully place the steak in the hot skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it to develop a nice crust.

  5. 5

    Add Aromatics

Flip the steak and add the crushed garlic cloves and rosemary sprig to the skillet for added flavor. Cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare.

  6. 6

    Check for Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the temperature, aiming for 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare. Adjust cooking time as needed.

  7. 7

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and place it on a cutting board. Tent loosely with aluminum foil and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

  8. 8

    Slice and Serve

Slice the steak against the grain into strips and serve immediately, optionally drizzling with any remaining pan juices.
