APPETIZERS

Method

APPETIZERS

  1. 1

    Prepare the Batter

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and water until well combined. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until you have a smooth batter.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small amount of batter into it; if it sizzles and rises to the surface, it’s ready.

  3. 3

    Batter the Shrimp

Dip each shrimp into the batter, ensuring they are fully coated. Allow any excess batter to drip off.

  4. 4

    Fry the Shrimp

Carefully place the battered shrimp into the hot oil, a few at a time, being cautious not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the shrimp and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  5. 5

    Make the Sauce

In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, and sriracha sauce until well combined.

  6. 6

    Toss Shrimp in Sauce

In a large mixing bowl, combine the fried shrimp with the sauce, tossing gently to coat each piece evenly.

  7. 7

    Serve

Transfer the shrimp to a serving platter. Top with sliced toasted almonds and chopped chives. Serve immediately and enjoy!
