Ingredients

Chardonnay Cocktail (wine-based)

Glass garnish / optional additions

Preparation

Chardonnay Cocktail (wine-based)

1. Chill and prepare

Place your white wine glass (or coupe) in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail. Gather ingredients and measure out the Chardonnay, brandy, lemon juice, simple syrup and bitters.

2. Mix

In a mixing glass or cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice, add the chilled Chardonnay (1.5 cups), brandy (0.5 oz, optional), fresh lemon juice (0.5 tbs), simple syrup (0.5 tsp) and 1 dash of Angostura bitters. Stir gently for about 20–30 seconds to combine and chill without overly diluting the wine.

3. Taste and adjust

Taste a small sip. If you prefer a brighter, more acidic drink, add another 1/4 tbs lemon juice. If you prefer sweeter, add another 1/4–1/2 tsp simple syrup. Stir briefly after adjusting.

4. Strain and finish

Discard ice from the chilled glass (if used). Strain the mixed cocktail into the chilled glass. If you like a lightly spritzed finish, top with 2 tablespoons of sparkling water or club soda.

5. Garnish and serve

Express a lemon twist over the glass to release oils, run it around the rim and drop it into the drink (or float a thin lemon slice). Optionally add a mint sprig for aroma. Serve immediately while cold.

Glass garnish / optional additions

6. If using sparkling water, pour it gently down the side of the glass after straining to preserve effervescence. Place mint sprig upright in the drink for visual appeal and aroma.
